One year old seedlings of Shatangju mandarin and lemon were grafted with CLas-infected and CLas free buds. The department of Qingyuan National Citrus Seedling Breeding Base provided vigorous shatangju and lemon seedlings, which were grown as part of a certification program. Buds from disease-free, healthy citrus plants were used to mock inoculate the control plants. Each plant was kept in a greenhouse in the same temperature-controlled environment.
